After quenching my thirst for adventure with the harrowing hike of Bessegen. I took a break of one day to normalize my mental health. A day after around 9:30 am, I left the DnT hut with my backpack and most importantly I was carrying my tent with me this time. Video-calling with my friend Ambar I was slowly moving up and on the left side was the same mountain where I spent my night 24 hours back. As much as I wanted to avoid the view, I could not control myself each time for that sublime sight, clouds floating above that mountain seeming more like a huge amount of white.

Well, this little ascent of around 40 minutes took me to this point from where the trail was pretty much straightforward.

After another 30 minutes of hike, I reached a point where I started seeing different people coming from different directions and by this point my feet injury also graved a bit. It started raining profusely as well, and because I gained some elevation therefore it also started getting more cold. Accidentaly I splashed my feet in a puddle of water due to which my feet was extremely cold, It was at this moment I decided to take a halt and I stopped near a rock and changed my socks. As simple it sounds, it was not because there was a lot of stuff packed in my back pack and the socks were at the bottom. I was more wet now than earlier and also quite frustrated because of not being attentive about that puddle. Well I decided to also eat something that I packed from the hut, and I was eating the 3 guys hiking in group crossed me. I packed my stuff and looked at the mountain where I had to go and it was more frightening than the night I spent on the mountain 1 day back. This was about 15 minutes since the three guys crossed me, and as I was ready to make a move I saw the three guys returning back and I assumed that maybe they are novice and afraid of going into the mountain. I talked to them and asked about the reason for returning and it was then that they apprised me about the wrong trail that I proceeded. They also gave me a map that I took with me, and I was tailgating the three Danish guys carrying Green colored Osprey backpacks. Thez were quite fast and in a span of 10 minutes, they disappeared completely. Perhaps god sent them to avoid watching one more disaster management of hiking. For the next 2 hours the hike pretty straight forward, where I encountered 2 Norwegian girls, to be honest they were kind of surprised when I told them I am solo hiking and goal is to reach Glittertind hut by the end of evening. They wished me best of luck after clicking me some pictures. Thanks to the special kind of Flaura flourishied during this part to keep my mind busy otherwise it could have been more boring than watching Friends. I was constantly keeping my eye on the time. It was around the evening 6pm when I finally reached the lake and after this the hike took a sharp turn towards left for the next 3 hours, which means till about 9 pm.

The Epic Hike to Glitterheim

I set off alone, a giant backpack dwarfing me. I could almost feel the stares of passersby - surprise and maybe a touch of pity for the crazy guy tackling the trails solo. After 20 minutes of determined hiking, I realized, yet again, I was on the wrong path. Fantastic.

Searching for the elusive red trail marker was fruitless, so I consulted my map. The route stretched out in front of me, leading along the mountain until I reached a lake. Two hours later, the lake finally shimmered into view. So far, so good...

But the map wasn't kidding – I'd only walked half the distance. Doubts crept in. Reaching Glitterheim hut by midnight was the goal, but darkness descends quickly in the mountains. Summit fever already burned within me, so I dug deep and pushed harder.

Hours blurred together. With every step, my feet screamed louder. The only respite was dinner beside the vast Rossvatnet lake, a stressful break where each passing minute gnawed at my hopes of reaching the hut before nightfall.

By 9:30, the trail wound along the lake's edge. Strangely, I was alone. No other hikers braved this remote trek – it was a little unnerving, reminding me of the eerily empty Besseggen trail.

After another 30 minutes, the path veered sharply to the right, and I began a relentless climb over boulders. Concentration was slipping. One misstep, and I could be tumbling headfirst… a terrifyingly real possibility after 12 hours of hard hiking.

Around 11 PM, I reached a glacier and crossed with surprising ease. Stress gnawed at me. Where was Glitterheim? Seeing only goats, unable to reach my destination, was demoralizing. I pushed myself onward, fearing failure.

And then, like a beacon, the lights of Glitterheim pierced the darkness at 11:30! Just 30 minutes to go before the world plunged into darkness... renewed motivation propelled me forward.

The final leg was a straightforward descent, then skirting a stream... and finally, at 12:45, I reached the hut! Exhaustion mingled with hunger pangs.

The lights were off as I entered. Desperate for water, I stumbled through the kitchen, but no one was there. Then, I spotted a young boy. He directed me to the drying room, and I gratefully dumped my soaked gear.

Downstairs, in the near-darkness, another boy appeared. He found me water, watching with a startled expression. Later, he even helped me set up my tent. He told me about his passion for hiking, his dad, his Fortnite obsession… it was a sweet moment of connection until a grumpy voice from a nearby tent demanded quiet.

Tired beyond words, I crashed in my tent. Tomorrow I'd worry about the dead power bank. For now, I'd made it. I had a safe place to sleep, and the thrill of the day lingered. Sleep came fast, a reward for an epic adventure.

I would reach to Glittertind hut around in about next 10 hours if I maintain my pace on a decent level. I was optimistic and I already learnt a lesson 1 day back.

For this hike it would take around 8/9 hours to reach the hut depending on my pace, this means that
